Highland County, OH (October 20, 2024) — A woman was killed, and three others were injured following a two-vehicle crash on Friday evening, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Troopers responded to the scene around 6:20 p.m. at the intersection of State Route 73 and Prospect Road in Washington Township.
Preliminary investigations indicate that 54-year-old Freddie A. Merrick was driving a 2011 Ford Focus westbound on Prospect Road when he failed to stop at a stop sign. As a result, his vehicle collided with a 2013 Chevrolet Impala driven by 45-year-old Tamara Frazer, who was heading southbound on State Route 73.
Frazer was airlifted to Miami Valley Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
Merrick sustained life-threatening injuries and was flown to UC Medical Center. Two passengers in the Ford Focus were also injured: Aldrich T. E. May was seriously injured and transported to Highland District Hospital, while Renetta L. Tolle suffered minor injuries and was also taken to the same hospital.
The crash remains under investigation.
