Hardin County, TX (August 3, 2025) — A devastating collision late Thursday night in Hardin County claimed the lives of two former Buna High School students, according to authorities with the Texas Department of Public Safety.
According to reports, the fatal crash happened around 11:30 p.m. on July 31 on Farm-to-Market Road 92, near the intersection with Farm-to-Market Road 1122 just north of Silsbee. Investigators said an 18-year-old driver, Riley Ard of Buna, was operating a Honda Accord and had just exited a gas station parking lot when the vehicle failed to yield to an oncoming northbound tow truck.
The tow truck struck the Honda on the driver’s side. Ard was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, 18-year-old Tracyn Brady of Orangefield, was transported to CHRISTUS St. Elizabeth Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
The driver of the tow truck was reportedly uninjured. An investigation by Texas DPS remains active.
