According to reports, the incident occurred around 11:23 a.m. on August 5 at the intersection of Old Fort Parkway and New Salem Highway. Preliminary findings from the Murfreesboro Police Department indicate that the woman was walking in a marked and signaled crosswalk when she was hit by a pickup truck making a left turn from Golf Lane.

Emergency responders from the Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department and Rutherford County EMS provided immediate aid at the scene. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
