Murfreesboro, TN (August 6, 2025) — A 23-year-old woman tragically lost her life after being struck by a pickup truck while crossing a busy intersection in Murfreesboro late Tuesday morning.
According to reports, the incident occurred around 11:23 a.m. on August 5 at the intersection of Old Fort Parkway and New Salem Highway. Preliminary findings from the Murfreesboro Police Department indicate that the woman was walking in a marked and signaled crosswalk when she was hit by a pickup truck making a left turn from Golf Lane.
Emergency responders from the Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department and Rutherford County EMS provided immediate aid at the scene. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
The 18-year-old male driver of the pickup truck was taken to a local hospital for observation. As of now, no charges have been announced. The Murfreesboro Police Department’s Fatal Accident Crash Team continues to investigate and is reviewing surveillance footage to determine the cause.
