Evans, NY (Aug. 8, 2025) – Multiple people were injured Sunday morning when an SUV crashed into a ravine at the Angola rest area along the New York State Thruway in Erie County. The incident happened at about 10:17 a.m. on August 3.
According to reports, State Police say a 2025 Honda SUV driven by 39-year-old Gyanendra Timalsina of Pickerington, Ohio, entered the ramp to the rest area when the driver accidentally pressed the accelerator instead of the brakes. The vehicle struck a traffic sign, broke through a chain link fence, and traveled roughly 150 feet down into a ravine before landing on its roof.
A 10-year-old child was airlifted to Oishei Children’s Hospital in Buffalo with non-life-threatening head, arm, and leg injuries. Two other children, ages six and 13, also went to Oishei with minor injuries. The driver and three other passengers, ranging in age from 44 to 66, were taken to Erie County Medical Center for treatment.
