Odessa, TX (August 12, 2025) – A motorcyclist suffered life-threatening injuries early Saturday morning after being struck by a suspected intoxicated driver in Central Odessa. The crash occurred at approximately 2:04 a.m. on August 9 at the intersection of University Boulevard and Andrews Highway.
According to reports, a silver Jeep Commander ran a red light at the intersection and collided with a 35-year-old man riding a motorcycle. The motorcyclist was first transported to a local hospital before being airlifted to Lubbock for advanced treatment.
The Jeep’s driver, 34-year-old Nathaniel Venegas, fled on foot but was later found in the 200 block of Barrow Drive. Authorities say he was intoxicated and in possession of 4.9 ounces of marijuana. Venegas, who has three prior DWI convictions, faces multiple charges including intoxication assault causing serious bodily injury, collision involving personal injury, possession of marijuana, and evading arrest. The investigation remains ongoing.
