Waynesboro, GA (August 14, 2025) – A tragic single-vehicle crash in Burke County on Wednesday evening claimed the lives of two individuals, according to local authorities.
According to reports, deputies with the Burke County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene around 7:40 p.m. on August 13 in the 800 block of Hancock Landing Road. Preliminary findings suggest the vehicle was traveling southbound at a high rate of speed when the driver failed to navigate a curve in the road.
The vehicle veered off the roadway, struck a ditch, and overturned several times before coming to rest. Both occupants inside the vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have not yet released the names of the victims, pending notification of their next of kin.
