Montcalm Township, MI (August 15, 2025) — A tragic crash involving a pickup truck and an Amish buggy left six people critically injured Tuesday evening in Montcalm Township, located about 30 miles northeast of Grand Rapids.
According to reports, the incident occurred on August 12 along Dickerson Lake Road near M-91. Authorities say a pickup truck was traveling eastbound and attempted to pass the horse-drawn buggy. However, when a westbound vehicle approached, the truck driver swerved back into the lane and struck the buggy from behind.
At the time of the crash, the buggy was carrying seven occupants—five children and two adults. All five children and one adult female were transported to a local hospital with critical injuries. The man riding in the buggy and the driver of the pickup sustained only minor injuries.
Officials have not released the names of those involved, and the crash remains under investigation.
