Vallejo, CA (December 9, 2025) – A hazardous materials situation unfolded Saturday afternoon, December 7, following a tanker truck rollover that shut down a portion of State Route 37 in Vallejo for several hours.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 2:35 p.m. on the westbound side of SR-37, just west of Mare Island. The collision involved a big rig tanker and a passenger vehicle. The impact caused the tanker to overturn, spilling an estimated 300 gallons of gasoline into the nearby waterway.
Emergency crews immediately initiated a hazmat response and closed the highway to contain the environmental risk. Cleanup efforts continued through the night, and both directions of the highway were reopened by 5:35 a.m. on Sunday, December 8.
Both drivers sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene. No further injuries were reported.
