Fillmore, CA (August 5, 2025) — A fatal head-on collision along Highway 126 on Sunday night is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
According to reports, a 71-year-old man was killed in a two-vehicle crash just before 8:00 p.m. on August 3. The victim was driving a 2010 Volkswagen Passat when a 2019 Honda Odyssey traveling westbound crossed into the eastbound lane and slammed into the Passat head-on.
The driver of the Odyssey, a 53-year-old man, was seriously injured and transported to a local hospital for treatment. Authorities have not yet determined whether drugs or alcohol were involved.
Emergency crews from the Ventura County Fire Department, Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, AMR, CalTrans, and the Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene. Highway 126 was temporarily shut down for approximately 45 minutes while investigators cleared the area.
The identity of the deceased man has not yet been released.
