Pomona, CA (October 9, 2025) – Authorities have identified the man killed in a fiery single-vehicle crash on a Pomona transition road early Saturday morning as 20-year-old Sebastian Arredondo.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal incident occurred at approximately 4:05 a.m. on October 5 on the southbound Golden State (5) Freeway transition to the southbound Hollywood (170) Freeway.
Investigators reported that Arredondo was driving a black Honda Accord when the vehicle struck the center divider, veered across all southbound lanes, and collided with a tree on the right shoulder. The car caught fire upon impact and ultimately came to rest in a ditch.
Emergency responders pronounced Arredondo deceased at the scene. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner later confirmed the cause of death as inhalation of combustion products and thermal injuries. No other vehicles were involved.
The transition road was closed for several hours for investigation and cleanup.
