Car Accident in Redwood City, CA — Lanes Blocked on SR-85 Northbound (August 6, 2025)

Redwood City, CA (August 6, 2025) — A two-vehicle crash during the morning commute caused major disruptions on northbound State Route 85 just south of the US-101 connector in Redwood City.

According to reports, the incident occurred around 8:00 a.m. on August 6 and involved a dark gray Honda Civic and a silver Chrysler 300. California Highway Patrol units arrived shortly after and confirmed that the Civic suffered a broken front axle and was disabled in the center divider. The Chrysler, also involved, was determined to be not drivable.

Emergency radio traffic captured the sound of a vehicle horn continuing in the background, indicating the urgency of the situation. CHP Unit A91-074 and Freeway Service Patrol crews responded and confirmed the crash was blocking both the Express Lane and Lane 1, with some spillover into Lane 2.

Although the collision was classified as a non-injury incident (1182), the damage to both vehicles and lane blockages caused significant delays in the area. Ellison’s Towing was called to the scene to assist with clearing the disabled Honda Civic.
