Bakersfield, CA. (October 8, 2025) – A woman sustained injuries after a vehicle plowed into her East Bakersfield residence early Saturday morning, causing significant property damage.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred on October 4 in the 1900 block of Gage Street. Authorities report that 22-year-old Thomas David Gonzales Jr. was behind the wheel when he lost control of his vehicle, which then crashed directly into an apartment unit.
Inside the home, Madison Leeann Desrochers was struck and injured. She received treatment for minor to moderate injuries. The impact left the building with major structural damage.
Gonzales reportedly fled the scene, but a nearby resident witnessed the crash and followed him while contacting authorities. Law enforcement located and arrested Gonzales shortly after. He was booked into Lerdo Jail on suspicion of DUI causing injury and felony hit-and-run. His bail was set at $420,000.
