According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the fatal incident occurred October 9 in the 6000 block of East Alexander Anton Lane. Authorities say two UTV-type vehicles—a red 2018 Polaris RZR and a blue 2018 Polaris RZR—were traveling side-by-side on parallel dirt paths when the roads merged, causing the vehicles to collide and roll.
The passenger in the red RZR, 56-year-old Cheryl Jeanene Cathey, was not wearing the harness system and died at the scene. The red RZR’s driver was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, while the driver of the blue RZR sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
