Santa Barbara, CA (October 20, 2025) – Four individuals were hospitalized early Sunday morning following a suspected DUI crash near the Santa Barbara Bowl, according to local authorities.
According to the California Highway Patrol and Santa Barbara Police Department, the incident occurred around 12:35 a.m. on October 19 near the intersection of North Milpas Street and Anapamu Street. Officials said a white Audi sedan was traveling eastbound on Anapamu Street when the driver failed to make a sharp turn onto Milpas Street and collided with a tree.
The driver, 18-year-old Sebastian Escamilla Lopez, along with three passengers — including a minor — sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate. All four were transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment.
Lopez was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and felony child endangerment due to the presence of the underage passenger. He is expected to be booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail once released from medical care.
