According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident happened around 10:30 a.m. on November 18 at the intersection of Imperial Avenue and Viewcrest Drive. Authorities reported that an 89-year-old woman driving a Volkswagen Jetta was turning left from westbound Imperial Avenue onto Viewcrest Drive when she was struck by a Ford Excursion traveling in the opposite direction.
The woman was seriously hurt in the collision and suffered multiple injuries, including a cervical spine fracture, broken orbital bone, and brain bleeds. She was rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency care.
