ENCINITAS, CA (January 8, 2025) – Marcos Domingo Perez, 45, of Encinitas, has been identified by the San Diego Coroner’s Office as the bicyclist who succumbed to injuries sustained in a collision on Encinitas Boulevard on January 1.

The California Highway Patrol reported that the crash occurred at approximately 5:51 PM near Valley Park Way, east of Cerro Street. According to the preliminary investigation, Perez was riding his bicycle eastbound on Encinitas Boulevard when he was struck by a Hyundai sedan.

Perez was transported to a local hospital for treatment but, despite medical efforts, his condition deteriorated, and he passed away three days after the collision.

The circumstances of the accident remain under investigation. Authorities have not released further information, including whether charges or citations may be issued in connection with the crash.
