Hesperia, CA (August 6, 2025) — A tragic accident involving a Tesla and a bicyclist last week in Hesperia has claimed the life of a local man, authorities confirmed.
According to reports, the crash occurred at approximately 10:00 p.m. on July 28 along Main Street, just east of Escondido Avenue. Officials say Jack Brewer Jr., a 58-year-old resident of Big Bear, was riding a bicycle in the middle of the number two westbound lane without lights when he was struck by a black 2018 Tesla Model 3 driven by a 22-year-old Hesperia man.
The driver told police he was unable to avoid the bicyclist due to other vehicles on the road. The impact threw Brewer Jr. from his bicycle and into a nearby field. Emergency responders arrived shortly after, but Brewer Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Tesla driver immediately stopped, called 911, and remained at the scene to cooperate with investigators. The crash occurred near the Aqueduct in front of Extra Space Storage.
Authorities confirmed that neither drugs nor alcohol were factors in the crash. The incident remains under investigation by the Hesperia Police Department.
