Lafourche Parish, LA (June 4, 2025) — Louisiana State Police are investigating two separate deadly crashes involving cyclists that occurred Sunday night in Terrebonne and Lafourche parishes.

According to reports, the first incident took place around 8:30 p.m. on LA Highway 57 near Cedar Grove Road in Terrebonne Parish. Authorities stated that 75-year-old Jerry Francis of Houma was riding his bicycle southbound without lights or reflective material when a southbound car struck the rear of his bike. Francis was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the car was unharmed.

The second crash happened around 10:30 p.m. in Larose at the intersection of LA Highway 308 and LA Highway 657. Police reported that 28-year-old Jonathan Bourg of Golden Meadow was riding a motorized bike northbound on LA Highway 308 when he allegedly ran a red light and entered the intersection, colliding with an eastbound car. Bourg was seriously injured and later died at a local hospital. The car’s driver was not injured in the crash.

Both tragic incidents are under active investigation by Louisiana State Police.
