Newhall, CA (August 6, 2025) — A tragic two-vehicle crash in Newhall last weekend left one man dead and another person hospitalized.
According to reports, the incident occurred at approximately 12:15 p.m. on August 2 along The Old Road near Weldon Canyon Road. Authorities confirmed that 88-year-old Antonio Gomez of Newhall was behind the wheel of a Pontiac Grand Am when the vehicle collided with a Toyota RAV4.
Emergency personnel responded swiftly, but Gomez was pronounced deceased at the scene due to injuries sustained in the collision. The driver of the Toyota RAV4 was taken to Henry Mayo Hospital for medical treatment. The extent of their injuries has not been disclosed.
The California Highway Patrol is actively investigating what led to the crash and has not yet determined the cause.
