Perris, CA (August 15, 2025) — A tragic collision in Riverside County claimed the life of a 49-year-old man from Nuevo on Tuesday evening in the city of Perris.
According to reports, Cota Ambrocio was fatally injured in a head-on crash that occurred at approximately 6:40 p.m. on August 12 along State Route 74. The California Highway Patrol stated that Ambrocio was driving a 2010 Lexus IS250 eastbound when the vehicle veered off the left side of the highway. It then crossed over a raised concrete center divider into westbound lanes and collided head-on with a 2024 Chevrolet Express van.
Following the impact, the Lexus continued off the roadway and came to rest after hitting a chain-link fence. Emergency responders pronounced Cota Ambrocio dead at the scene. The two individuals in the Chevrolet — a 23-year-old driver and a 59-year-old passenger — were reportedly injured, but the extent of their injuries remains unclear.
A SIG alert was issued, closing the westbound lanes of Highway 74 for more than two hours as the investigation unfolded.
