Westport, MA (July 30, 2026) – A 64-year-old Fairhaven man was killed Monday afternoon following a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 195 in Westport that remains under investigation by the Massachusetts State Police.
According to the Massachusetts State Police the crash occurred at approximately 3:20 p.m. on July 27 near mile marker 16.2 on Interstate 195 in Westport. Troopers responded after receiving multiple reports of a collision involving several vehicles.
Investigators said emergency crews found a blue Audi stopped in the right lane and a Chevrolet Silverado with catastrophic damage in the tree line. Authorities also reported that a green BMW left the scene following the collision.
The driver of the Chevrolet Silverado, Mario Carreiro, 64, of Fairhaven, was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The driver of the Audi was not injured and remained at the scene. Authorities have not released additional information regarding the driver or occupants of the BMW.
