Belton, TX (August 25, 2026) – Tavarshea Daveon Sims, 31, and Shane Demeair Taylor, 39, were killed and two other people were seriously injured in a multi-vehicle crash near the Belton-Temple line on Thursday, August 20. The collision occurred shortly after 8 p.m. on northbound Interstate 35 near mile marker 294.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety , two vehicles, including a Nissan Altima, were reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed and weaving through slower traffic before the crash. Investigators said the Altima made an unsafe lane change across the northbound lanes and struck a Hyundai Elantra.
Sims, who was driving the Hyundai, was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. Taylor, a passenger in the Hyundai, was transported to a hospital, where he later died. The Nissan Altima driver and another passenger in the Hyundai were hospitalized with severe injuries.
