Elk Township, PA (October 11, 2026) – One person was killed Wednesday morning, October 7, in a four-vehicle collision along U.S. Route 322 near Black Road in Elk Township, Clarion County.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police, the crash occurred at approximately 9:35 a.m. near Black Road (Township Route 419), where traffic had backed up due to nearby construction activity.
Investigators reported that a westbound vehicle failed to notice another vehicle stopped in the construction-related traffic backup. The approaching vehicle attempted to maneuver around the stopped vehicle and struck it.
A third vehicle traveling behind the first also failed to recognize the stopped traffic. That vehicle crossed into the opposing lane and collided head-on with a fourth vehicle.
The driver of the third vehicle sustained fatal injuries in the collision. Pennsylvania State Police did not immediately release the victim’s identity because notification of the person’s next of kin was pending.
U.S. Route 322 remained closed for several hours while emergency personnel investigated the accident and cleared the roadway.
The Pennsylvania State Police Troop C Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, Forensic Services Unit, Clarion County Coroner’s Office, Shippenville Volunteer Fire Department, Knox EMS, and Community Ambulance assisted at the scene.
The investigation into the fatal four-vehicle crash remains ongoing.
