Lancaster, CA (July 7, 2025) — A tragic collision on State Route 138 left a Lancaster family devastated when three family members were killed and a lone surviving child was rushed into surgery earlier this week.
According to reports, the California Highway Patrol responded to the crash around 4:25 p.m. on July 2 at the intersection of State Route 138 and 110th Street West. Preliminary findings indicate that a Chevrolet Colorado carrying a family of four pulled away from a stop sign and into the path of an eastbound Dodge Ram 3500 traveling on SR-138.
When officers and emergency responders arrived, they found both parents and their 12-year-old daughter dead at the scene. They have since been identified by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner as 38-year-old Vanessa Gonzalez-Gabriel, 49-year-old Abdias Gabriel-Fernandez, and 12-year-old Ruby Gabriel.
A lone surviving child from the vehicle was rushed to Antelope Valley Medical Center and immediately taken into surgery. The driver of the Dodge Ram suffered minor injuries and was also treated at the same hospital. Video surveillance from an electric vehicle that drove by at the moment of impact confirmed the crash sequence. CHP said no criminal charges will be filed, and the cause remains under investigation.
State Route 138 was shut down for more than four hours during the investigation, with traffic diverted to nearby roads.
