Columbus, OH (June 28, 2025) – A tragic two-vehicle collision in Licking County Friday afternoon left one woman dead and four others injured after one driver reportedly failed to yield at a stop sign.
According to reports, the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) responded to the scene at the intersection of State Route 16 and Gale Road on June 27. Troopers say Donna Porter was driving a Toyota Sienna northbound on Gale Road when she failed to yield to a posted stop sign and was struck by a Mazda 5 traveling eastbound on State Route 16.
The Mazda, driven by Sandra Welch, collided with the Sienna with significant force. Welch was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries but was later pronounced deceased. Her passenger was also taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
Porter suffered serious injuries and was hospitalized, while her two juvenile passengers were treated for minor injuries. Multiple agencies assisted at the scene as investigators worked to determine exactly what led to the tragic failure to yield.
OSHP has confirmed the crash remains under active investigation.
