San Leandro, CA (October 13, 2025) – Two people lost their lives and three others were injured following a high-speed pursuit that ended in a violent crash early Saturday morning in San Leandro.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the pursuit began around 3:41 a.m. on October 11 when officers attempted to stop a white Mercedes traveling at high speeds on Interstate 580 in Castro Valley. The driver did not comply and continued onto Interstate 238, where the vehicle ultimately collided with a sound wall near 14th Street.
Both the driver and one passenger inside the Mercedes were pronounced dead at the scene. A second passenger sustained serious injuries and was transported to the hospital.
The CHP patrol vehicle involved in the chase also struck the wall, seriously injuring the two officers inside. Emergency crews responded quickly to aid all victims.
