Seal Rock, OR (June 6, 2025) – A fatal two-vehicle crash on Wednesday afternoon claimed the life of a Waldport man on Highway 101 in Lincoln County.
According to reports, Oregon State Police responded to the scene around 3:55 p.m. on June 4 near milepost 149. Investigators say a blue Ford Taurus, driven by 23-year-old Jonathan Joseph Channels of Waldport, was heading southbound when it crossed the center line into oncoming traffic and collided with a northbound white Ram 2500.
Channels was tragically pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Ram, 54-year-old Kevin Michael Nelsen, and his passenger, 38-year-old Nicholas Nelsen, both of Santa Rosa, California, sustained minor injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Highway 101 was closed for approximately four hours as crews worked to investigate and clear the crash site. Multiple agencies, including the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, PacWest Ambulance, Seal Rock Fire Department, and the Oregon Department of Transportation, assisted at the scene.
