Ohio County, IN (November 26, 2025) – One man was killed Monday evening following a two-vehicle collision involving a passenger car and a harvesting combine in rural Ohio County.
According to the Indiana State Police, emergency crews were dispatched around 6:30 p.m. on November 24 to the 5100 block of Milton Bear Branch Road. The crash occurred as a passenger car and a combine were traveling in opposite directions. Authorities report the car struck the front tire of the combine.
The driver of the car, identified as Vernon Smith of Cincinnati, was transported to UC Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries. The operator of the combine was not injured in the crash.
Multiple local agencies, including the Bear Branch and Rising Sun fire departments, assisted in the emergency response. An investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
