South Sacramento, CA (December 16, 2025) – A devastating vehicle crash in South Sacramento Sunday afternoon left one pedestrian dead and two others injured following a multi-vehicle collision involving a red-light violation.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 4 p.m. on December 15 when a vehicle heading east on Mack Road ran a red light at the intersection with Elsie Avenue. The vehicle collided with another car that was turning right from Stockton Boulevard onto Elsie Avenue.

The force of the crash caused the impacted vehicle to veer left, where it tragically struck a pedestrian standing on a concrete island that separates eastbound and westbound lanes. The pedestrian died at the scene.
