Plainfield, WI (September 2, 2025) – A 43-year-old Hancock man was killed Friday afternoon after a collision involving a semi-truck in Waushara County.
According to the Waushara County Sheriff’s Office, the deadly crash occurred just before 12:15 p.m. on August 29 at the intersection of 5th Avenue and Archer Avenue in the Town of Plainfield. Authorities say a vehicle heading eastbound on Archer Avenue failed to stop at a posted stop sign and entered the intersection directly into the path of a southbound semi-truck traveling on 5th Avenue.
Despite efforts to avoid the collision, the semi struck the vehicle and overturned onto its side. The driver of the car, identified as 43-year-old Christopher L. Burns of Hancock, was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.
The semi-truck driver was not injured in the crash. Local deputies and crash reconstruction teams are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
