Fatal DUI Crash in Norwalk, CA — 4 Dead on 605 Fwy in Dual Collisions (July 20, 2025)

Norwalk, CA (July 20, 2025) – Four people lost their lives and two others were seriously injured in a pair of crashes that occurred early Sunday morning on the 605 Freeway in Norwalk. Authorities have since confirmed the deadly incident involved two separate collisions—one of which included a California Highway Patrol cruiser.

According to reports, the first crash took place around 1 a.m. on July 20. A Nissan with four occupants clipped a CHP patrol car on the southbound side of the freeway for reasons still under investigation. The Nissan then became disabled in active lanes of traffic.

Moments later, a Kia carrying two individuals crashed into the disabled Nissan, causing it to burst into flames. All four people inside the Nissan died at the scene. The Kia’s driver, a female believed to have been impaired, and her passenger were both hospitalized with serious injuries.

The officer in the CHP vehicle was not injured. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether the patrol car or the Nissan had been moved from the roadway prior to the second collision. The names of the deceased have not been released pending official identification.

CHP officials noted that the suspected DUI driver will face multiple felony charges once released from the hospital.
