Fatal DUI Crash in Oroville, CA — Zohie Lonsberry Killed on SR-162 Near Old Olive Hwy (July 30, 2025)

Oroville, CA (August 5, 2025) — A tragic DUI crash on State Route 162 near Old Olive Highway has claimed the life of 19-year-old Zohie Diane Lee Lonsberry and left her brother, David Lonsberry, critically injured.

According to reports, the crash occurred at approximately 7:16 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30. Zohie Lonsberry, a State Parks employee, was driving a Toyota Corolla westbound when a Dodge pickup truck, operated by 38-year-old Fernando Martinez Lynch of Oakley, veered across the double yellow lines and struck the sedan head-on.

The force of the impact tore the roof off the Toyota, which veered off the road. The Dodge flipped onto its roof, scattering debris across both directions of the highway. Zohie was pronounced dead at the scene, while her 22-year-old brother, David, was rushed to the hospital with severe injuries.

Fernando Lynch was arrested for DUI. Authorities revealed that Lynch, an unlicensed driver, has a long history of DUI convictions dating back to 2005 and a pending case in Yuba County. He is currently being held without bail and is expected to enter a plea on August 7.
