According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred just after 7:00 a.m. on September 7 on Pierson Boulevard, west of North Indian Canyon Drive. Authorities confirmed that 67-year-old Laura Harker, a resident of Desert Hot Springs, was riding a Sasikeibike e-bike along the right-hand side of the eastbound lane when the incident took place.

Investigators say the driver of a Ford F-150 failed to see Harker and struck the rear of the e-bike. Emergency responders transported Harker to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

The driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene. The CHP is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
