Santa Cruz Mountains, CA (August 24, 2025) – A woman was killed Friday morning after her sedan crashed and erupted into flames along northbound State Route 17 in the Santa Cruz Mountains, according to the California Highway Patrol.
According to reports, the crash occurred around 11:23 a.m. on August 22 just north of Jarvis Road. CHP officials said the woman’s vehicle struck the center median barrier before careening across the roadway and hitting a metal guardrail on the east shoulder. The impact caused the vehicle to ignite.
Despite emergency responders’ life-saving efforts, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin.
