San Bernardino, CA (August 6, 2025) — A deadly crash involving a semi-truck and a pickup truck in the Vidal area of San Bernardino County claimed the life of a young man on Friday afternoon.

According to reports, the collision occurred at approximately 1:49 p.m. on August 1 along Highway 62 near mile marker 129, close to Chambers Well Road. Authorities say a semi-truck pulling another vehicle collided head-on with a white four-door pickup truck.

The driver of the pickup, identified as 18-year-old Connor Coats of Murrieta, was pronounced dead at the scene.

An air ambulance responded to the area, though it remains unclear how many additional individuals were injured. During the crash, the tank of the vehicle being towed by the semi ruptured, resulting in a diesel spill at the scene.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the collision.
