Barnhart, TX (October 21, 2025) – A San Angelo man was killed and another seriously injured in a devastating head-on collision in Barnhart on Friday afternoon.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash occurred around 4:34 p.m. on October 18, 2025, at the intersection of U.S. Highway 67 and North First Street. Authorities say 52-year-old Christopher Michael Wheeler, of Boerne, was driving a 2008 Mitsubishi Raider westbound when his vehicle veered into the eastbound lane, striking a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado head-on.
The driver of the Silverado, 52-year-old David Brent Poindexter of San Angelo, was pronounced dead at the scene. Wheeler was taken to Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo with serious injuries.
