Ocean View, HI (August 18, 2026) – A 45-year-old Ocean View man was killed and a 21-year-old woman was critically injured in a two-vehicle head-on crash near Aloha Boulevard and Lehua Lane on August 15. Hawaiʻi Police Department officers responded to the Hawaiian Ocean View Estates subdivision at approximately 1:17 p.m.
According to the Hawaii Department of Public Safety, the crash involved a gold 2021 Kia Seltos and a silver 2000 Nissan Altima. The preliminary investigation indicates the Kia was traveling west on Aloha Boulevard when it crossed the centerline and collided head-on with the eastbound Nissan.
Police said the 45-year-old Kia driver was not wearing a seat belt. He was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 1:35 p.m. His identity was being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The 21-year-old woman driving the Nissan was transported to Kona Community Hospital, where she was reported in critical condition.
The Area II Traffic Enforcement Unit initiated a coroner’s inquest investigation. Authorities said it had not been determined whether storm conditions played a role in the collision.
