Bell County, TX (November 5, 2025) – A 39-year-old Gatesville man lost his life Tuesday afternoon following a violent head-on crash along Highway 36 in Bell County.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision occurred on November 4 when deputies attempted to stop a man traveling in a blue Dodge pickup truck eastbound on Highway 36. The suspect, who had been reported as threatening self-harm and was wanted for assault causing bodily injury by impeding breath on a pregnant woman, fled the scene near White Flint Park.
During the pursuit, the man crossed the overpass for Texas Highway 317, veered into oncoming lanes, and collided head-on with a westbound semi-tractor trailer carrying a flatbed load of oil field pipe. The impact caused the cargo to shift from the trailer. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, while the semi-truck driver, a Channelview resident, was taken to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Temple for treatment.
