Julian, CA (December 2, 2025) – A devastating multi-vehicle crash in rural San Diego County claimed the life of an 8-year-old girl and left six others with major injuries Sunday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened around 3 p.m. on November 30 along San Felipe Road, just south of Montezuma Valley Road. Authorities say a 25-year-old Oceanside man driving a 2005 Toyota Tacoma veered over the double-yellow line for unknown reasons, crashing head-on into a 2018 Toyota Camry heading southbound. The impact was severe, involving a third vehicle—a 1997 Ford F-350 pulling a utility trailer—that was struck as the Tacoma lost control and overturned before catching fire.
The Camry carried a 26-year-old Arizona man, a 28-year-old woman, and three children: an 8-year-old girl, a 5-year-old boy, and a 4-year-old boy. All were hospitalized with major injuries, and tragically, the 8-year-old died at Sharp Memorial Hospital.
The driver and passenger in the Tacoma were also hospitalized with serious injuries. One minor injury was reported in the Ford truck.
Investigators believe alcohol may have been a factor in the crash, which shut down both lanes of San Felipe Road at Scissors Crossing.
