Long Beach, CA (December 9, 2025) — A 28-year-old man was killed early Sunday morning in a suspected intentional hit-and-run that led to a murder arrest, following an argument between two men in a Long Beach neighborhood.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at approximately 1:45 a.m. on December 7, 2025, in the 1700 block of Newport Avenue. Authorities say the victim, identified as Samuel Ocegueda of Long Beach, was crossing the street outside of a crosswalk when he was struck by a four-door sedan.
Investigators believe Ocegueda and the suspect, identified as Isai Solis of Lynwood, had been involved in a verbal dispute just prior to the collision. Solis allegedly drove into Ocegueda and then fled the scene southbound on Newport Avenue before turning west onto Wilton Street.
Paramedics with the Long Beach Fire Department pronounced Ocegueda dead at the scene. Solis was later located and arrested in Lynwood, booked on suspicion of murder, and is currently being held on $2 million bail.
