Fatal Multi-Vehicle Crash in East Windsor Twp., NJ — New Jersey Turnpike SB (August 7, 2025)

East Windsor Twp., NJ (August 8, 2025) – A deadly chain-reaction collision on the New Jersey Turnpike left one person dead and two others injured Thursday morning in Mercer County. The crash happened on August 7 shortly after 10:30 a.m. in the southbound lanes at milepost 68.2, according to New Jersey State Police.

According to reports, the incident began when a semi-truck struck a Ford F-150 pickup from behind, then collided with a Mercedes. The force of the impact pushed the Ford into the rear of another tractor-trailer, causing a wheel to detach and strike a van. Moments later, the Ford caught fire, killing its driver. The victim’s identity has not yet been released.

The drivers of the Mercedes and the van sustained minor injuries. Authorities closed part of the turnpike for several hours while investigating the crash and clearing the scene.

Protect Your Rights After a Fatal Accident Today

In fatal multi-vehicle collisions, determining liability can be complex, as several drivers and commercial carriers may share responsibility. A wrongful death attorney can help grieving families by investigating all aspects of the crash, including reviewing police reports, securing witness statements, and examining data from truck electronic logging devices. Families may be entitled to compensation for funeral expenses, loss of income, emotional suffering, and other damages. Because commercial trucking companies and their insurers often respond quickly to protect their interests, it is important for families to act promptly to preserve critical evidence and meet legal filing deadlines. Skilled legal representation can help ensure accountability and justice for the loss of a loved one.
