San Diego, CA (August 5, 2025) – A deadly chain-reaction crash involving four vehicles on Interstate 15 left one person dead and several others injured Sunday morning in the HOV lanes north of Camino Del Norte.
According to reports, the collision occurred just before 9 a.m. on August 4. Authorities say a white Ram pickup truck traveling southbound in the HOV lane for unknown reasons veered to the right, crashing into a grey Volvo and a green Lexus. The impact forced the Volvo to swerve left into a white Tesla, escalating the multi-vehicle crash.
The driver of the grey Volvo was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the Volvo suffered major injuries, while occupants of the Ram pickup truck reported injuries ranging from minor to complaint of pain. All injured individuals were transported to nearby hospitals.
The California Highway Patrol does not believe alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. The investigation into the exact sequence of events remains ongoing.
