Saukville, WI (November 27, 2025) – Tragedy struck in Ozaukee County Wednesday afternoon when a multi-vehicle crash involving a semi-tractor-trailer left one person dead and four others seriously injured on Interstate 43.
According to the Wisconsin State Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 3:11 p.m. on November 26 near the intersection of I-43 and State Highway 33 in the Town of Saukville. A semi heading southbound lost control, jackknifed on the slick roadway, and crossed the median into oncoming traffic. It was struck by a 2013 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van and a 2018 Ford Fusion. Both vehicles became pinned under the trailer.
The driver of the Sprinter van was pronounced dead at the scene. The Ford Fusion’s driver suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to Aurora Medical Center in Grafton. A third vehicle, a Subaru Forester, also collided with the semi. All three of its occupants sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and were also hospitalized.
Northbound I-43 lanes were closed for over five hours and reopened around 8:35 p.m. as emergency crews cleared the scene.
