Los Angeles, CA (September 20, 2025) – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a Los Angeles Police Department patrol car Friday evening in the Highland Park area of Los Angeles.
According to the California Highway Patrol and LAPD officials, the fatal collision occurred around 7:20 p.m. on September 20 at the intersection of Woodside Drive and North Figueroa Street. A marked LAPD patrol unit was responding to an emergency call in the area, traveling northbound with lights and sirens activated.
To bypass slowed traffic, the officer entered the center median. At that moment, a man believed to be in his late 20s or early 30s was skateboarding southbound in the same median. He was struck by the patrol vehicle.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but the man died from his injuries. His identity has not yet been released pending notification of his family.
