San Jose, CA (August 15, 2025) — A tragic incident occurred late Thursday morning when a woman died after falling from an overpass onto U.S. Highway 101 in San Jose.
News sources show that the California Highway Patrol received a call around 11:47 a.m. on August 14 reporting that a pedestrian had fallen from the McKee Road overcrossing. Shortly after, the individual was struck by a vehicle traveling on the highway’s southbound lanes. Emergency responders pronounced the woman, believed to be around 40 years old, deceased at the scene.
The driver who struck the woman stayed at the location and cooperated fully with the investigation, authorities said. The San Jose Police Department is handling inquiries into the circumstances that led to the fall.
All southbound lanes of Highway 101 were closed north of Alum Rock Avenue for more than two hours as officials conducted their investigation. Traffic was diverted to McKee Road and East Julian Street during the closure.
