Oconee County, SC (August 9, 2026) – A construction traffic flagger was killed after being struck by a pickup truck on South Carolina Highway 28 in Oconee County on Friday afternoon, August 7. The victim was identified by the Oconee County Coroner’s Office as 65-year-old Douglas “Doug” Edwards of Greenville.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a 2012 Chevrolet pickup was traveling west on South Carolina Highway 28 at approximately 2 p.m. when it struck the rear of a stopped 2014 Hyundai Elantra. The Chevrolet then traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck Edwards, who was working as a construction traffic flagger near Yellow Branch Falls.
