Las Cruces, NM (January 1, 2026) — Two separate pedestrian collisions just hours apart in Las Cruces have left one woman dead and a man critically injured, according to local authorities.

According to the New Mexico State Police, the first incident occurred Monday night around 10:00 p.m. near the 500 block of South Telshor Boulevard. A 54-year-old woman was struck by a Ford F-150 pickup truck after reportedly crossing the street outside of a crosswalk. She was transported to Memorial Medical Center where she later died from her injuries. The driver remained on the scene and is cooperating with investigators.

The second crash happened early Tuesday morning at approximately 5:30 a.m. on Triviz Drive near Spruce Avenue. A Chevrolet Cavalier hit a 74-year-old man who was also not in a marked crosswalk. He was airlifted to University Medical Center in El Paso in critical condition. The driver of that vehicle also remained on site.

No charges have been filed at this time, and investigations are ongoing.
