Hartselle, AL (September 11, 2025) — A high-speed police pursuit that began in Priceville tragically ended in Hartselle Saturday night, leaving a 17-year-old dead and five others hospitalized, according to authorities.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the chase started on Interstate 65 near the 329-mile marker and quickly exited onto Main Street. Within three minutes, the suspect vehicle collided with another at the intersection of Main Street and Highway 31 around 8:30 p.m. on September 6.

The suspect’s vehicle crashed into a ditch after violently striking another car carrying four teenagers. One of the teens, a 17-year-old, was killed at the scene. The impact launched the victim’s car across the intersection. A cross now marks the spot where the teen died.

The suspect, who was also seriously injured, is in custody and remains hospitalized. A Priceville officer involved in the pursuit has been placed on leave, per department policy.
