Riverside County, CA (August 1, 2026) – A fatal rollover crash involving a Tesla Model 3 and a Kia Forte claimed the life of a Desert Hot Springs woman and left two other people injured Wednesday morning near the Cactus City Rest Area in Riverside County. The collision occurred at approximately 7:01 a.m. on July 30 along eastbound Interstate 10.
According to the California Highway Patrol, investigators reported that a Tesla Model 3 was traveling eastbound when it was rear ended by a Kia Forte that was allegedly traveling at a high rate of speed. The force of the collision caused both vehicles to lose control, leave the roadway, and overturn in the freeway median.
Alexis Dare, a 33 year old passenger in the Kia Forte and a resident of Desert Hot Springs, was ejected during the rollover and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Tesla Model 3 and the driver of the Kia Forte sustained moderate to major injuries and were transported to Desert Regional Medical Center for additional treatment.
