Bovina, TX (September 28, 2026) – A 59-year-old Iowa man died and two other people were injured Wednesday afternoon in a three-vehicle crash involving two tractor-trailers and an SUV at State Highway 86 and State Highway 214 in Bovina.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the September 23 collision occurred at approximately 2:00 p.m. Investigators said a Ford Expedition traveling east on State Highway 86 entered the intersection after failing to yield at a stop sign and collided with a southbound tractor-trailer on State Highway 214.
The impact pushed the southbound tractor-trailer into the northbound lanes, where it collided with another tractor-trailer. The southbound trailer detached during the crash and came to rest on top of the northbound truck.
The northbound truck driver, identified as Timothy James Holst, 59, of Rowley, Iowa, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Expedition driver, Shayanne Marie Clover, 30, of Garden City, Kansas, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Parmer County Community Hospital. Authorities said she was expected to be airlifted to UMC in Lubbock when weather conditions permitted.
The southbound tractor-trailer driver, Jose Omar Cano, 51, of Olton, suffered minor injuries. DPS reported that the roads were wet at the time of the crash. The Texas Highway Patrol continues to investigate.
